Major update: Excel-style formula suggestions, Format as Table, Office shortcuts and data-loss protection

The October 5 update is the largest since the move to the MORA Office name, focused on the habits of Word, Excel and PowerPoint users and on keeping your data safe. MORA Sheet suggests functions as you type a formula, adds Format as Table with a Table Design tab, and brings more Excel 365 functions and Excel shortcuts. MORA Doc and MORA Slide save .docx, .rtf and .pptx more faithfully, and audio and video are now embedded in presentations. Many issues that could cause data loss or unexpected closes have been fixed, AutoRecovery now saves every 3 minutes, and the software has moved to its new home at office.mora.vn.

New features 7

SheetExcel-style function suggestions as you type

Type =vl in a cell and a list of matching functions appears right below the cursor, with frequently used functions first, plus their syntax and a short description. Pick one with the arrow keys or the mouse, press Enter or Tab to accept, or Esc to close. Suggestions don't get in the way of Vietnamese input methods.

SheetFormat as Table and the Table Design tab

The Table button on the Insert tab and Ctrl+T turn a data range into a styled table. When the cursor is inside a table, the Table Design tab appears with Header Row, Total Row, Banded Rows/Columns, First/Last Column, Filter Button, Table Styles and Convert to Range.

SheetExcel-style structured references

Inside a table you can type and display Excel-style formulas such as =[@Quantity]*[@Price] or =SUM([Price]); the formula bar shows this concise form instead of a long, hard-to-read reference.

SheetMore Excel 365 functions

Adds REGEXTEST, REGEXEXTRACT, REGEXREPLACE (test, extract and replace text by pattern), PERCENTOF, VALUETOTEXT, ARRAYTOTEXT, TRIMRANGE and the @ operator. Excel files that use functions MORA does not support yet (such as LAMBDA or GROUPBY) keep the results Excel saved instead of showing #NAME?.

SheetOrientation, Size and Fit to Page on the Page Layout tab

The Page Layout tab gains Orientation (Portrait/Landscape), Size (A4, A3, A5, Letter, Legal) and Fit to Page (whole sheet, all columns or all rows on one page) menus as in Excel, so printing in landscape or scaling to fit takes a single click.

DocBuilt-in styles for new documents

New MORA Doc documents include Heading 1–4 in MORA blue, a No Spacing paragraph style and a Subtle Emphasis character style. Existing documents look exactly as before.

GeneralCtrl+F1 collapses or expands the ribbon

Press Ctrl+F1 to collapse or expand the ribbon as in Office; the setting is remembered the next time you open the app.

Improvements 18

SheetExcel-compatible formulas

You can type sheet references such as Sheet2!A1 as in Excel; text comparisons in new files ignore case (“a” = “A” returns TRUE); and VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP return #VALUE! or #REF! as Excel does instead of obscure error codes.

SheetExcel shortcuts and data entry

Alt+Enter adds a line break in a cell, Ctrl+Enter fills all selected cells, Ctrl+R fills right, Ctrl+9/Ctrl+0 hide rows/columns, Ctrl+5 applies strikethrough, Ctrl+Shift+2 applies the time format, Ctrl+Shift+6 the scientific format and Ctrl+Shift+~ the General format. Backspace clears the selected cell and enters edit mode (Esc restores the content); when a shape is selected, Backspace deletes it. Entries that mix words and numbers, such as the Vietnamese “tháng 3 năm 2026” (March 2026), are no longer auto-capitalized when you reach the number.

SheetDates and CSV files

Dates show a four-digit year (05/10/2026) as in Excel. Opening a .csv file recognizes dates, times and percentages as numbers you can calculate with, and saving back to .csv no longer turns 2026 into 26.

SheetHandy additions to the ribbon and menus

The number format box on the ribbon has More Number Formats..., the Borders button has More Borders..., and the cell context menu has Change Case. The “Bad” and “Neutral” cell styles now use Excel's names. Select two or more cells containing data and the status bar shows Average, Count and Sum, just like Excel.

SheetExcel-like printing and column widths

New spreadsheets no longer print a header (sheet name) and footer (page number) by default, matching Excel. Double-clicking a column header border now autofits the width to cells with wrapped text as well.

SheetSettings preserved when opening and saving .xlsx

Workbook structure protection is kept when opening and saving .xlsx files (including Excel 2013 and later passwords); the Print Comments option survives reopening; comment pop-ups show a readable date and time (for example 05/10/2026 14:30); conditional formatting accepts plain text values (abc, Hanoi) as Excel does; and the Standard Filter dialog shows long column names in full.

DocWord keyboard shortcuts

Ctrl+Alt+1/2/3 apply Heading 1–3, Ctrl+= applies subscript, Ctrl+Shift+= superscript, and Ctrl+Shift+> and Ctrl+Shift+< increase or decrease the font size. Previous shortcuts still work.

DocWord-style table editing

The table context menu has Text Alignment (left, center, right, justified; top, middle, bottom of the cell). Select the whole table and press Backspace to delete it (Delete clears only the cell contents). The Background Color button shades the entire cell when cells are selected or the cursor is in a cell, like Shading in Word, with no white band around the cell border.

DocDefaults closer to Word

Typing three dashes (or =, _, *, ~, #) and pressing Enter inserts a horizontal line; page numbers, dates and other fields no longer have a gray background; text boundary corner marks are hidden; and AutoCorrect no longer wrongly capitalizes the next word after common Vietnamese abbreviations ending in a period, such as TP. (city), ThS. (Master) or PGS.TS. (Associate Professor, PhD).

DocCorrect Vietnamese order in alphabetical indexes

Alphabetical indexes now follow the Vietnamese alphabet (A Ă Â … Đ … Ê … Ô Ơ … Ư) and group letters with tone marks correctly, instead of pushing accented letters after Y.

SlideAudio and video embedded in presentations

Inserted audio and video are embedded in the document rather than linked to a file on your computer, and .pptx files carry the media with them, so they play on any computer. During a slideshow, clicking audio or video plays or pauses it without advancing the slide.

SlideDefaults closer to PowerPoint

New slides use the Arial font; clicking a selected shape again no longer switches to rotate mode (callouts keep their pointer handle); and hidden slides are not printed by default.

SlideClear message when a computer can't play video

Computers missing a video codec now show one clear, localized message per file with a link to help at office.mora.vn/ho-tro/video-trong-slide/, instead of a repeated technical error dialog in front of the audience. Computers without speakers or headphones (such as Remote Desktop servers and virtual machines) are told why, and the video still plays without sound. Audio inserted from the Gallery plays correctly, and the playback bar on the Media tab no longer cuts off its labels.

GeneralAutoRecovery every 3 minutes

AutoRecovery information is now saved every 3 minutes (previously it was effectively every 10 minutes), so unsaved documents can be recovered after a freeze, a power cut or an unexpected shutdown of MORA Office.

GeneralFull display at 125% and 150% scaling

The tab row, ribbon group labels and Slide's Transitions and Animations galleries display in full, without cut-off text or overlapping buttons, when Windows scaling is set to 125% or 150%. The splash screen on first launch no longer shows status text over the image.

GeneralExport, print and saved files carry the MORA name

File ▸ Export selects PDF by default, as in Word and Excel. The Print dialog shows the correct MORA Doc, MORA Sheet, MORA Slide and MORA PDF names on its app-specific options tab. PDF, .docx, .xlsx, .pptx and XHTML files record MORA Office as the creating application; bundled color palettes carry the MORA name; and the Send via Bluetooth command, which does not work on Windows, is hidden.

GeneralWarning before saving drops macros

Saving a document that contains Basic macros to a Microsoft format (.docx, .xlsx, .xlsm…) asks once beforehand, because the macros will be lost; choose Cancel and the file is left untouched.

GeneralNew home at office.mora.vn

Downloads, updates, help and license purchases have moved to office.mora.vn; the support mailbox is hotro@mora.vn.

Fixes 7

DocSaving .docx with Track Changes no longer corrupts files

A .docx file that contains tracked changes together with hyperlinks or fields is no longer saved in a corrupted state that prevented it from reopening.

DocImage formatting and comments kept in .docx and .rtf

Saving to .docx keeps image brightness, contrast and transparency. Saving to .rtf keeps the text and author names of Vietnamese comments, as well as different odd and even headers and footers.

SlideClick actions kept and no extra save prompts with .pptx

Saving to .pptx keeps click actions (go to a slide, first/last slide, open a link, end the show) on every kind of object: text boxes, rectangles, ellipses, lines, grouped shapes, tables and title placeholders. Saving a .pptx while the cursor is still in a text box and then closing no longer asks you to save again.

SheetInserting and pasting images no longer leaves empty frames

Inserting an image while another image is selected now replaces it with the new one (previously only an empty frame remained), and images copied from Zalo (a popular messaging app) or a web browser paste as embedded images instead of broken frames.

PDFInsert pages from another PDF

The command for inserting pages from another PDF file works as expected; previously it reported that the file could not be opened.

GeneralFewer unexpected closes and lost backups

Fixed MORA Office closing unexpectedly when creating or saving many documents in a row, when opening a very large number of documents at once (about 25 windows or more), and when video playback failed. Saving in the wrong format (for example a text document as a spreadsheet) now shows an error instead of closing the app. Backups of two documents with the same name in different folders no longer overwrite each other.

GeneralLanguage changes and leaving Safe Mode take effect correctly

After changing the interface language and choosing “Restart Later”, or after leaving Safe Mode, the next launch applies the change correctly instead of keeping the old state because MORA was still running in the system tray.

Security 1

DocEncrypted connections for email mail merge

Mail merge sent by email automatically switches to an encrypted connection when the mail server supports it, so mailbox passwords are no longer sent unencrypted.

Installation and platform 1

WindowsCleaner installation with correct naming

Database and Formula are removed from the New menu and from default file associations (existing .odb and .odf files still open), and MORA Office no longer takes over .odt, .ods, .odp or .odg associations already held by other software. MORA windows group correctly on the taskbar, Programs and Features lists simply “MORA Office”, and the splash screen has a progress bar in MORA colors.
